Michael Douglas says he fell very hard for Jeanne Tripplehorn on Basic Instinct

Michael Douglas is clearing up a decades-old Basic Instinct rumor in his new memoir, One Helluva Ride. For years, fans assumed he was involved with Sharon Stone during the 1992 thriller, but Douglas, now 82, writes that he was actually seeing Jeanne Tripplehorn, who played his character's therapist. He says he "fell very hard" for her despite a nearly 20-year age gap, and admits he was ready to leave his first wife, Diandra Luker, at the time. In the end, he chose not to rush from his marriage into another serious relationship, and says the romance ended when filming wrapped. Douglas later divorced Luker and has been married to Catherine Zeta-Jones since 2000. Tripplehorn married actor Leland Orser that same year.
