'Michael 2' is one of 35 films approved in the California Film Commission's latest round, which hands out $226 million in incentives in total. The original 'Michael' received $21 million in state credits and went on to earn more than $1 billion at the box office.

The program has also become more generous since the first film was made. It now covers 35% of qualified costs, up from 17.5% for the original.
